The only mysterious step in Magento upgrade

    Okay I tried everything and wasted 3 complete days and everything went in vain.

    No good.

    The upgrade runs for few hours and then starts throwing resourceDB error and if we keep on changing the version numbes as it shows on core_resource, it goes ahead, but keeps on looping with all that kind of errors.

    Till date, we have fixed every kind of error, we face with magento upgrade, except this resourceDB related problems.

    Can anyone tell, whats the best method to handle this exact thing ?

    I never did a Magento Upgrade succesfully. It's too painful !

    It also depends in "from wich" version are you upgrading.

    Last time I wanted to update a store, I requested it to the hosting provider. Even them (Magento Experts) had serious problems with it.

    If the new version you want to upgrade doesn't have anything you really need, don't do it.

    However if you really need it and you can't do it with a normal upgrade, you will have to do a clean install and import the data.

    Okay, we have done around 150+ upgrades, since we provide it as a service.

    Anyways, may be I need to contact the core members for this serious bug.
